About Us
Well, the time has come. I’ve waited for Sarah to enter something on this page and it still hasn’t happened. So I, Andrew, will now attempt to write a simple synopsis of our little family. Andrew may from time to time refer to himself in the third person. This is a literary technique that will add to the cleverly deployed wit and charm of this delightful story.
Sarah Elizabeth Feucht, the most perfect person in the universe other than Andrew was born on December 6, 1972. What? Oh… Sarah apparently was actually born in 1980. She was born in the lovely state of Oregon in Portland. Her parents were busy trying to adjust to life with a new baby, while her dad was finishing up med-school, and her mom was working part time as a nurse. Before long, the new Dr. Feucht moved off to Chicago with the fam to do his medical residency. Sarah was raised in the ghe-tto across the street from Cook County Hospital, along with her brother Jonathan and sisters Rachel and Diane, where they all discovered the craziness of being Feuchts. Sarah enjoyed Chicago; the helicopters landing near the hospital across the street, the Indian food smell in the hallways of their highrise, the scary babysitters, the extremely scary siblings, and a Mom who really got into the whole 80′s thing with regards to clothes. When Sarah was 8 years old, Dr. Feucht was through with schooling, but needed a way to pay off all his student loans. So, he took the family to Biloxi, MS where he joined the Air Force, learned how to catch and eat aardvarks if he needed to survive in the wild, and got to explore England for several months during Desert Storm, courtesy of Uncle Sam. Sarah mostly just went to school and helped her Mom maintain the base award-winning yard. After two years, Major Feucht decided that except for the USAA membership, military life wasn’t that great. He moved the family again, this time to Puyallup. Sarah and her siblings were happy to get a bigger yard, a nice community to live in and before long, a cool new church, Faith Presbyterian in Tacoma. Sarah and her sisters enjoyed their adolescent years torturing Jonathan and getting new dogs. Sarah was sent to an evil public school for Junior High but for 9th grade, her parents decided to send her to Covenant High School — associated with their church. Sarah liked it even though there weren’t enough boys in her class. After many fun adventures and what seems like (to Andrew) WAY too many trips to Europe (not that he’s bitter, even though he’s NEVER been to Europe and now he has a demanding job) Sarah graduated but not before she started spelling all words in the “British” style — i.e. with unnecessary “u”s in words like “honour” and “colour”. After talking to her Uncle Dennis and Aunt Dotty in Pennsylvania, she came out to Grove City College in the middle of nowhere somewhere West of the Atlantic Ocean. It was a pretty campus and you couldn’t beat the Chinese food in town. Well, you could beat it anywhere else, but not in town because it was the only Chinese place. After much deliberation and glances at the wonderful and charming Grove City Chapel, she decided to pick a college for the pretty campus rather than the academic rigor. It was pretty rigorous, but thankfully, Sarah picked an easy major — Business. Loser. I mean, “Yay! Business!”. This is where she met Andrew. Andrew was incredibly handsome and attractive although he’s not entirely sure that everything he wrote above was technically what we like to call, “true”. He’s not good with dates or “events” or “memories”. But he is incredibly wonderful. Sarah met him at the Intervarsity Bible Study in South Hall Lobby at Grove City. Within one week, Sarah and Andrew were happily married. Err… wait… no, that’s not how it went. It actually took some time. I’m not sure why… However, to help explain, maybe Andrew should get on with his story.
Andrew wasn’t born in a U.S. state. He was born in Washington, D.C. on January 27, 1983. To this day, he’s somewhat annoying about this especially when Canadian Border Guards and other government officials ask what state he was born in. “I wasn’t” is his obnoxious reply. He thinks it’s funny. He isn’t. Anyway, his parents lived in Rockville, MD before it became e-vil. Andrew doesn’t remember this time very much. He was busy taking naps and looking incredibly cute. During this time period several incriminating photos of Andrew were released that appear to make him look somewhat fat and ugly as a baby. These are obviously untrue and will not be mentioned again. At 2, Andrew and his older brother Peter and older sister Ann (without an E) moved to the wonderful state of Oregon. They lived in Salem, not too far from where Sarah Feucht had been born 4 and 1/2 years previously. They didn’t know this unfortunately. After 2 years of travel and of Dad taking a lot of business trips back to the D.C. area, we moved back to the D.C. area this time living in God’s Country — Virginia. Andrew survived home schooling, massive scary cicada infestations, 3 more siblings (Hope, James, and Alison), Vienna Little League and about 25 bicycles before graduating (sort of) from high school early at 16. Because of his incredible talent and genius, Andrew decided to move immediately on to Grove City College where his older brother Peter was finishing up his last semester. Andrew also enjoyed the Chinese food but the beauty of the campus was somewhat lost on him. He met a chick named “Sarah” at an Intervarsity Bible Study. She was alright, for a chick. Sometimes Andrew talked to her. Sometimes Andrew went on walks with her. Sometimes the walking and the talking was mostly what Andrew did all day instead of studying. Sometimes Andrew changed his major from a “real” degree in Applied Physics to a “faux” degree in Computer Information Systems because he wasn’t studying enough to get good grades in the “real” degree. One day, Andrew realized that he might possibly, in a way, sort of have feelings or something for Sarah. She was pretty. And nice. Odd. But nice. Andrew decided that he did in fact like her. But of course he couldn’t reveal this massive secret. So instead, Sarah told him one day that she liked him a lot. Sure of success he immediately affirmed that he sort of kind of maybe liked her a too a little, but maybe just as a friend. Or maybe more… Eventually, Andrew and Sarah began dating. Somehow, both Andrew and Sarah finished college but not before having to spend summers apart of having Sarah write Andrew a massive 100 page letter that will someday reside in a museum — hopefully after Andrew gets through reading it. Summer before senior year, Andrew had proposed to Sarah and they were to be married shortly after graduation. Andrew graduated and began working for Computer Sciences Corporation, a scum-sucking government contractor. In August 2003, Sarah and Andrew were finally married and Sarah moved to Virginia to live in a dark and dingy hovel in Falls Church, Virginia. Before long, Patrick Thomas (“Pat-Rat”) came into the world (it’s a little complicated and this is a family-friendly website so I won’t explain the details). Sarah and Andrew realized they needed more space so they moved a little farther out to Fairfax, Virginia to a nicer apartment. Andrew first switched projects at his company, and then switched companies. After a short stint with Unisys, Andrew found an opportunity in Washington state working for another scum-sucking contractor out of Lynnwood. Before long, Andrew and Sarah and Patrick were moving out to Washington. After renting an apartment for a while and getting used to the area, Sarah and Andrew bought their first house in preparation for a new arrival, (who soon after arrived as expected) Samuel Jacob (“Samster the Hamster”). They were busy. Too busy to update the “About” page on their blog. So they didn’t. At least not for a while. Not until they were expecting yet another little one… On July 15, 2007 in Virginia (but July 14, 2007 in Washington) Andrew, while on business travel, finally updated the website to give some more explanation for where this funny family came from.
Phew. So, that’s it for now. We need to revise, correct, and properly cite references. Look for a little bit more details as someone who actually remembers the details (i.e. Sarah) edits this. Also, some pictures.
