I Love Nesting!!!

August 6th, 2007

The past couple weeks I’ve suddenly found myself with energy to do some big projects to prepare for our new baby. First, we received Grandma’s old dresser, so I lined the drawers and put all of Patrick’s clothes into it. After I had done that, I realized that I had never finished lining the drawers and shelves in the kids’ bathroom (which I had planned to do over a year ago!!!), so I spent a whole day cleaning out the drawers, carefully lining them, and organizing all the toiletries, 1st Aid supplies, bath toys, etc. Once that was done, I organized the nursery dresser and lined and organized the nursery nightstand. After organizing the nightstand, I had the urge to crochet more baby burp cloths, so I could have a set of 9 new ones for the new baby. So far I have finished 5, and I’m busy working on another. To top it off, I finished painting a wooden name train. Andrew is going to spray it with a clear protective coating (since the fumes are bad for pregnant women), and then I’m going to pack it gently in a box and give it to our baby for his first Christmas present!

I just find it amazing how, after months of constant fatigue and morning sickness (plus all the work that goes into taking care of Patrick and Samuel), I manage to have any energy at all for these things that I was able to accomplish. I just love the nesting instinct, and I hope it continues to give me enough energy to complete some of these other projects that I’ve been putting off for months. I’d like to be totally prepared for the baby by the end of October because I have a feeling he might come early, and before he comes there are so many things I’d like to do. My next project is probably going to be organzing my bathroom drawer, because it’s a huge mess. I need to go to Target and see if they have any trays or storage solutions to hold all the little odds and ends I keep in that drawer. I also really need to clean it out because I never properly cleaned it after Patrick got into my lipstick and ate some of it!

Thank goodness for nesting!

(On the downside, I haven’t been taking ANY pictures, so if I get around to it, I’ll try to pull out the camera and give you all something more interesting to look at!!!)
