Who Knew???

January 6th, 2008

I just got a list of the 10 most popular boy and girl names for 2007  based on the babies registered on babycenter.com, and I was SHOCKED to find out that Ethan had made the #2 spot!!!  Granted, this list is different from the Social Security Admin’s list, which hasn’t come out for 2007 yet. However, in 2006, Ethan was the 5th most popular name according to the Social Security records. And we just picked it because we liked it ;o).

Here’s the list from Baby Center

2007:
1. Aiden
2. Ethan
3. Jacob
4. Jaydon
5. Caden
6. Noah
7. Jackson
8. Jack
9. Logan
10. Matthew

Three of the ten end in the letter “n”; three are derivations of Jacob (Jack, Jackson); only Jack is one syllable–the rest all two syllables. The only name I don’t like at all is “Jaydon”. How weird is that?

    According to this site:

Andrew and Sarah are both number 19 for 2007. How cool is that!?

BTW, there are a few names on the list I cannot tolerate like Aiden, Jaydon, and Cadon. They sound weak and not very manly. Also, Logan is weird. MOM
