I just realized this evening that we’ve had this family blog for three years now! I didn’t do very much blogging at first, if you happen to go back and see what we were doing in March ’05, but I just thought I’d mention it, nonetheless!
Here are just a few pictures from our short trip to California this past week!

A view of the garden atrium in the hotel, where we were able to see Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie during our visit! (Sorry, we didn’t take pictures of the movie stars… I’m sure they get more of enough of that already as it is!!!)
Some of the koi in the pond that wound around the atrium. Some of these fish were MASSIVE, and there were also a bunch of cute little turtles and even a DUCK living in the atrium of our hotel. It was pretty neat!!!
And Ethan in the plane on the way home. Somehow, despite the fact that our flight was full, we managed to have an open seat in between the seats that Andrew and I had been assigned, so we had a little extra room for Ethan to sleep on the way home :o).
Today Ethan had a visitor come to play with him. She even wore a matching snowman outfit in pink. Ethan wasn’t quite sure what to make of his little playmate. Here’s what I think Ethan might have been saying to himself:
Wooh! Who’s this cutie on the blanket next to me?
Hum… She must like me enough to put her arm around me!
Oh, wait… she’s just pulling on my ear! Ow, ow, ow!
Ouch! That was one good punch in the jaw. Rejection! I guess Mr. Whaley was right about me staying away from his daughter!!!
It’s amazing what excites me now that I am a mom. Today Patrick was dry the entire day, with absolutely NO accidents! I am just thrilled at how things have just suddenly clicked in his head. I can’t decide how this came about… did he just decide he was ready, or was it the 3 potty videos we had rented from the library? Or was it the rewards chart I made, where he gets a sticker every time he uses the potty, and when he fills up an entire row he gets a little toy? Was it the brightly colored, super soft minky training pants that I ordered off Blueberry.com? Or maybe it was a combination of all these things all at once? I honestly don’t know, but it is beginning to feel really nice to not have to change Patrick during the day anymore!
