Patrick is rapidly becoming such a big boy. With new words like “No”, “Thank You”, “Meow” (his word for Cat), “Good”, and of course, his favorite, “BALL”, he’s becoming less and less of a baby! He’s getting much smarter, too. He has a little hand sign that he uses to show when he’s done eating, he is becoming more clever when playing with his learning toys (actually sorting them or stacking them rather than banging them!), and he’s even learned how to use the TV remote and play computer games with Oma and Dada. He’s growing up so fast!!!

One of the things that Andrew and I noticed recently is that his hair, which has only been cut in the back, was starting to get into his eyes and he needed his first real hair cut. Well, today I had some time to waste where I had to be out of the house while my oven was cleaning itself, and so I took him to a special hair salon that deals only with children. I was a little afraid to try to tackle cutting his hair myself until I had seen how a professional does it! Well, we brought him to Kids Cuts, he got to sit in the special little Police Car seat and watch Disney while the lady worked quickly to get it his hair cut before he could fuss and complain. She was quick!!! And he was squiggly too. That must be the hardest hair cutting job ever! When she was done, he looked like a totally different kid. He looks much more grown up now. It’s amazing. You’ll have to see for yourself!

Now that Patrick is a big boy, he has outgrown his ducky theme. Once we move into a new house, the new baby, whether a boy or girl, will be getting the ducky themed decor. (One of the reasons why we picked it was because it was gender neutral). Patrick will be soon ready for a big boy bed, and will need a new theme. I’ve been going over different new boyish themes for Patrick in my head, and I’ve looked at a lot of overpriced Pottery Barn Kids catalogs. I’d love some feedback on what you’d think would be a cute theme. Here are my ideas:

1)Sailboat beach theme- light blue, white and red sailboats and cute little crabs and other sea life to accent the main theme.

2)Airplane theme- light blue, dark blue, white, and maybe one other accent color. I’m thinking more of the antique looking planes over more modern day jets.

3)Dinosaur theme- lots of greens, brown and blue, maybe some red. Happy dinos are preferred for good nights’ sleep!

4)Trains- blues, greens, reds- a pretty classic theme. A classic Lionel train set would complete this theme.

5)Baseball- blue, red, white, brown- if we get Patrick involved in any sports, it will probably all start with Little League baseball.

I’m not big on doing any other sports, a car or a truck theme, but if anyone has any other ideas besides the ones here, let me know! I’m interested to see what people think would be the cutest for my little boy!

DaDa’s sweater is like a long gown for Patrick

Here are several pictures of Patrick. Most of them were taken the day I put up the St. Patrick decorations. Patrick was quite sick on his actual holiday, so we don’t have any really good pictures of him.

In one week from tomorrow we will be finding out the gender of our little one, and so if you have guesses as to the gender, birthdate or weight, please let us know by Wednesday, the 29th, at noon. After that, we will no longer be taking any guesses.

Unless we promised to call you after the ultrasound, if you’re interested in finding out the gender of the baby, we’d love for you to call us between 4-8PM our time on our cell phones that day to get the news!
