Baby #3’s First Picture

May 24th, 2007

Here’s our first picture of Baby #3, taken four weeks ago, when I was 9 weeks pregnant. Baby #3 comes as a surprise to us, following close behind big brother, Samuel. If I go early, as I have with the two boys, we might have two kids 15 months apart! We’re very excited about expanding our family!!!

Hello, Warm Weather!

May 17th, 2007

This past week has been beautiful! The weather has been in the 60’s-70’s. I love how it’s not too scorching hot and not too chilly. Patrick has had a lot of fun running around in the backyard these days, and we’ve been trying to take advantage of the sunshine while we can!  Recent purchases in this household have included a new patio set (so we can sit outside without dragging out our dining room chairs!), a kiddy pool for Patrick and Sammy, and lots of sunblock! Here’s a few pictures from this past week.

Patrick thought that sitting on Auntie Rachel’s face was rather comfortable!

I know what Patrick’s going to be doing a lot this summer!

In the next few weeks, our calendar is full of things to do. Friday night is pizza and game night at the King’s house, Saturday we’re doing a garage sale in the morning and then in the afternoon we’re having the Kamke’s over for a barbecue, Friday the 25th we’re going to Dr. Rogland’s retirement party (which all you CHS grads better be attending!!!), and then we *might* be going down to Portland for Memorial Weekend (still have to confirm with Dad!), and the weekend after that we’re headed to HAWAII.  Busy, busy, busy.

Baby Crawls and Baby Steps

May 10th, 2007

Things have been quite hectic in our household. Here’s what’s been going on:

Samuel: It’s happening again… he’s TEETHING. Nothing is keeping this little guy happy for very long. I even tried Hyland’s homeopathic tablets, because one of my friends said that it worked for her little boy, but to no avail… I can see two top teeth on the verge of breaking through, and they’re causing a lot of fussing, a lot of screaming, a lot of very unhappy baby time! HOWEVER, things aren’t totally bad with Sammy. He’s making a lot of headway on his crawling. He’s figured out how to propel his body forward with his feet, pull that fat little tummy of his off the ground, but there’s still one setback: he won’t get those fingers out of his mouth! So, he tries to move along on one hand, one elbow, finds himself unstable, and ends up rolling on his side. I’ve tried to motivate him to pull those fingers out and he’s moved forward a little bit, but he just LOVES those fingers. He’s such a silly little guy.

Patrick: While Sammy is busy with baby crawls, Patrick is very busy with baby steps, but not the walking kind. We’re making some good progress on the potty training. Patrick is starting to understand the urges of his body, and will go pee in the potty as soon as we place him there. Sometimes he will take the initiative and go by himself. The thing we need to teach him now is that he needs to consistently use the potty every time he needs to go, not just some of the time. Sometimes he’ll try to go multiple times in a row, squeezing what little drops he can, in order to get more than one M&M! I really feel that we’ve made a lot of headway with him so far. I have high hopes of having him completely potty trained by October at the very, very latest!

Patrick’s other new accomplishment, which we are not encouraging, is going into the pantry and taking out the soy milk and pouring himself a cup. We’ve had two cases of him getting soy milk all over the kitchen floor that way, and needless to say, I wasn’t very happy…

Andrew has been pretty busy with work, and I’ve been busy with taking care of the boys. I look forward to my sisters coming home this weekend. It will be nice to have some extra people around who are willing and eager to take care of two very active little guys!!!

I do have a couple pictures from yesterday. I also have a video of Sammy trying to crawl, but I’m being lazy right now and will download it later.

Patrick and Sammy share a biter biscuit. Patrick shoves his in his mouth right away and demands more, while Sammy carefully chews on his until Patrick steals and eats his, too.

I Can’t!

May 4th, 2007

Yes, that’s Patrick’s new phrase… “I can’t, I can’t, I can’t”. We’re not sure where he got it, but he started saying it this morning while knocking over all his legos. What a funny little boy…

We haven’t had a ton of things going on lately. BUT, we’ve had several successes with Patrick going pee in the potty by himself! He gets excited at the thought of M&M’s and he’ll go several times in a row, squeezing any possible drops out, in order to get more! What a funny kid!

Sammy is doing well. He’s had a bit of a cough the past couple of days, and we’re not sure why. He’s pretty happy despite everything, though. He’s trying so hard to crawl, but he’s still not quite there yet. Not that I’m sure I’m ready to have another mobile child in the house…

This next week Rachel is going to graduate from college. Yay, Rach! I can’t believe you’re done with college already! It will be interesting to see what you do after graduation… ;o).

That also means that Rachel and Diane are coming home for the summer. Is it summer already? I hardly had time to notice.  This summer should be quite interesting… several things to look forward to: Hawaii, Sammy’s 1st b-day (we have a great theme picked out!), our 4th wedding anniversary, a possible visit from some friends in MD, warm weather, lots of barbecuing, backpacking for Andrew (notice, I said ANDREW!) and more. We should have a lot of fun!

Other than that, not too much else new to mention! I had a request for pictures, but I haven’t really been taking many lately, so here’s what I have. Hope this is good enough until I get some new ones!

Sammy Sees The Doctor

April 30th, 2007

On Friday we took Samuel in for his 9 month checkup. The doctor said that he seemed like a happy baby, which of course Sammy is AS LONG AS HE GETS ATTENTION. The doc said he looked healthy, although he does seem to be a little on the short side (thank the Feucht side of the family for that one!!!). He said Sammy’s growing well though.

Here’s his stats:

Head circumference: 18 1/4″
Length: 27 1/4″
Weight: 19 lb, 8 oz.

Sammy hasn’t been quite as mobile as his brother was at this age. At 9 months Patrick was creeping along the ground on his belly everywhere, and was beginning to pull himself up onto furniture. Sammy hasn’t quite gotten to that point yet. He rolls around on the floor a lot, he can sit up very well, and he can propel himself with his feet when he’s on his back. Not that I mind too much! Once he starts crawling around and pulling himself up onto things, things are going to get a lot more interesting in this house!

In other news, Burble the Gerbil died yesterday. We’re not exactly sure why… but now all three of the baby gerbils we bought in December have died. I wonder if they had some sort of weird over-breeding problem or disease or something, because we were taking care of them and feeding them the same way as our last set, which lasted much longer. The other two that we bought in December died in January, which was strange… we found them dead one morning just out of the blue. Who knows… We told Patrick, but we didn’t show the gerbil to him. He walked around for a little bit saying “Burble die, Burble die”. I don’t think he really knows what it meant, and he’ll forget we even had gerbils before too long. Maybe we’ll get some new ones at some point. We still have Cow the fish, who hasn’t died yet despite everything. Fish aren’t very fun pets though. One of these days we’ll get a puppy, but I’d rather wait until we’re done having babies because I don’t want to have to deal with more than one “baby” in the house at a time!!!

Oh, and speaking of dead animals (since we’re on the topic anyways), Patrick found a dead bird in my parents’ yard on Saturday. I FREAKED when I saw him carrying it. It was one of Katze’s kill… evil cat! (And if you can’t tell, I do not like my mom’s cat, esp. because I’m very allergic to it and my mom refuses to get rid of it!)
